I was inspired by games that have a rustic style and wanted to create something that looks old. Keys have a good size and shape to experiment with textures. I played with rust, decay, and metal patinas and explored a range of surface treatments to achieve an ancient look.

Ancient Keys

The hope for this project was to create something realistic and learn about how to layer materials in Redshift. The key material was made using a single grunge map, that was layered with different materials to simulate rust and tarnish of the metal.

The keys were made using Volume Builder and Mesher, using mostly primitives. SDF smoothing was applied using fields to smooth some sections more than others.
